Job Description: Multi-Skilled Operator II – HVAC Specialist
Position Overview:
We are looking for a highly skilled Multi-Skilled Operator II with a focus on HVAC maintenance and troubleshooting to support data center facilities. The successful candidate will perform preventive and corrective HVAC maintenance, ensuring reliable climate control essential to data center operations. In addition to HVAC expertise, the candidate will manage a variety of facility tasks to ensure smooth and efficient operation under the direction of the Client Project Manager or designated personnel.
Key Responsibilities:
HVAC System Maintenance and Repair:
Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, focusing on data center areas with high environmental control needs.
Monitor and adjust HVAC settings to maintain optimal temperature and humidity levels critical for data center equipment.
Clean, replace, and maintain air filters, coils, and other HVAC components to ensure efficient operation and air quality.
Diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC issues, conducting on-the-spot repairs or escalating complex problems to minimize downtime.
Conduct performance testing on HVAC systems and components, documenting findings and implementing adjustments to maintain efficiency.
Assist with seasonal HVAC preparations and repairs, such as coolant levels, seasonal tune-ups, and emergency repair readiness.
Emergency HVAC Support and On-Call Duties:
Provide rapid response to HVAC emergencies, implementing corrective actions to restore climate control and ensure uninterrupted data center operations.
Perform after-hours on-call support for HVAC issues, as needed, to address critical situations promptly and minimize impact on facility operations.
Electrical, Plumbing, and General Maintenance Tasks:
Perform minor electrical maintenance related to HVAC systems, including checking electrical connections and minor repairs to ensure safe operations.
Handle minor plumbing repairs as needed to support HVAC systems, such as clearing drainage lines and addressing condensation issues.
Support routine facility inspections, ensuring all HVAC-related safety and operational protocols are followed.
General Facility Maintenance and Safety:
Conduct general cleaning and organization in areas housing HVAC equipment to maintain a safe and accessible workspace.
Maintain accurate HVAC maintenance records and track inventory of HVAC-specific parts, tools, and supplies.
Collaborate with the team to support safety initiatives, ensuring all HVAC maintenance tasks are conducted following OSHA and safety guidelines.
Seasonal and Specialized HVAC Projects:
Assist with special HVAC-related projects, including upgrades to improve energy efficiency, implementing new systems, and supporting long-term facility planning.
Manage seasonal HVAC preparations for winterization and summer cooling demands, ensuring all systems meet seasonal requirements.
Coordinate with vendors for specialized HVAC repairs or upgrades beyond routine maintenance.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 3 years in HVAC maintenance, preferably in a data center or similar high-demand environment.
HVAC Certification: HVAC certification or licensure is required. Additional certifications related to electrical or mechanical systems are a plus.
Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in HVAC troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance, with experience in climate control for data-sensitive areas.
Safety-Oriented: Knowledge of OSHA and industry safety standards, with a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
